Lollipops Napier Port is a vibrant, purpose‑built centre where children learn, play, and grow — and where great food is a big part of the magic. With spaces designed to support physical activity, independence, and creativity, our tamariki thrive in an environment full of hands‑on exploration. From energetic outdoor adventures to calm indoor moments, every day is rich with sensory experiences, cultural celebrations, and opportunities to learn. It’s the kind of place where a chef can truly shine — creating nourishing meals, supporting children’s wellbeing, and becoming part of a team that makes every learning moment fun, meaningful, and full of heart.

Our much-loved chef is going on parental leave to welcome her own pepe; so we are looking for a passionate chef to join our team at Lollipops. This is your chance to make a real difference in children's lives by preparing nutritious, delicious meals that fuel their growth and development.

The role is 35 hours per week, 7.30-3.00pm Monday to Friday.  As well as cooking you will also support the kaiako but covering lunch breaks in the learning spaces.  This parental leave cover is from 28 April 2026 – 5 February 2027.

  • Planning and preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for children
  • Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times
  • Accommodating special dietary requirements and allergies
  • Managing kitchen inventory and supplies
  • Maintaining a clean, organised kitchen space
  • Working collaboratively with kaiako on meal planning

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in commercial cooking or food preparation
  • Food safety certification or willingness to obtain
  • Understanding of child nutrition principles
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Genuine care for children's wellbeing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
