We're looking for a warm, reliable, and community-minded Centre Van Driver to join our Lollipops Napier Port Centre on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with Tamariki, building strong relationships with whānau, and being out and about in the local community. You'll play an important role in supporting our Tamariki to thrive while helping create a welcoming and inclusive environment grounded in manaakitanga
Hours of Work
- 30 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Includes a 1-hour lunch break (5 working hours per day)
You'll be responsible for safely transporting tamariki to and from the Centre, supporting excursions, and assisting our teaching team with classroom cover throughout the day.
Driving our Toyota HiAce van, you'll play an important role in ensuring our tamariki arrive safely and comfortably while building positive relationships with whānau and the wider community.
What your day may look like:
- Safely pick up and drop off tamariki according to daily schedules.
- Transport tamariki and kaiako on Centre excursions and adventures.
- Ensure all health, safety, and transport procedures are followed.
- Complete vehicle checks and report any maintenance requirements.
- Maintain van registers and related administration.
- Communicate effectively with whānau, caregivers, and Centre staff.
- Provide classroom support and cover as required.
- Help create positive experiences for tamariki throughout their day.
- Represent our Centre positively within the local community.
What we're looking for in you:
- Full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
- Confidence behind the wheel and a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of tamariki.
- Good knowledge of the Ahuriri (Napier) area and local roads.
- A warm, friendly, and approachable personality with a genuine passion for working with people.
- Fun, bubbly, and happy to engage with tamariki.
- Reliable, responsible, and professional.
- Comfortable building positive relationships with people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
- An interest in supporting tamariki and being involved in Centre activities, excursions, and community events.
- An appreciation for Te Ao Māori and a willingness to embrace tikanga and bicultural practices within our Centre.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Current First Aid Certificate (advantageous).
- If not already qualified, the successful candidate must complete First Aid training before driving tamariki independently.
- Experience working with tamariki or in a community-focused role would be beneficial.
