Join Us as You Grow Your Practice as an Early Childhood Kaiako

  • Handy to shops, cafés, schools, public transport and other amenities

  • Well‑resourced centre in a fantastic location

  • Discounted childcare for your tamariki

At Active Explorers Masterton, we believe in nurturing both tamariki and emerging kaiako. Our centre is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, celebrating curiosity, creativity, and the unique strengths each child brings. We create an environment where ideas are valued, individuality is embraced, and everyone — including our teachers-in-training — feels supported to grow.

With four beautifully designed learning rooms tailored to each developmental stage, our centre offers rich, play‑based learning, cultural diversity, and a strong sense of belonging. Our curriculum is full of outdoor exploration, music, art, literacy, and meaningful community connections. It’s a lively, warm, and heart‑centred place to begin or continue your teaching journey.

About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate kaiako-in-training (or an experienced non‑certificated kaiako) to support tamariki aged 2 to 4 years old. Our busy, curious tamariki are ready for someone who will jump into the learning, the laughter, and the beautiful chaos this age group brings.

If you’re currently studying toward your ECE qualification and want a centre that will uplift you as you develop your practice, this is a place where you’ll be encouraged, mentored, and truly valued.

What We Offer

  • A warm, collaborative team who will support your growth as a kaiako

  • A well‑resourced centre to spark creativity and inspire your teaching

  • Professional development and a clear pathway to grow your ECE career

  • Access to the wider Evolve network of ECE professionals

  • A half‑day of birthday leave

  • Sufficient non‑contact time for planning, documentation, and reflection

What We’re Looking For

  • A developing kaiako with a genuine desire to teach in a positive, nurturing way

  • Someone passionate, caring, and committed to high‑quality early learning

  • A student currently training toward ECE teacher certification or an experienced non‑certificated kaiako

If this sounds like the right place to grow your skills and confidence as a kaiako, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your confidential application and resume using the link provided.
