Lollipops Blighs Road is a well-established, purpose-built early childhood centre that has been serving the local community for 16 years. Our centre is well-resourced and designed to inspire children's curiosity and creativity. We provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive.
Our offer to you:
We are on the lookout for a new dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team at Lollipops Blighs Road. In this role, you’ll be responsible for preparing nutritious and balanced meals for Tamariki under 5 in a safe and hygienic environment. This role is 30 hours a week (Monday – Friday) and would suit someone with experience cooking delicious and healthy food in bulk.
You'll play a vital role in promoting healthy eating habits and a positive mealtime experience for our Tamariki, fuelling them for a big day of learning! There’s space here for you to transform our menus – whether it's healthy eating, garden to table or a particular area you excel in – you’ll have a chance to really make this role your own. We have great facilities and a team of people who love what they do, so you’ll be able to use your expertise in a meaningful way every day. There will be some light housekeeping duties included in the role.

- Meal Preparation: Cook healthy meals and snacks following the centre’s menu and dietary guidelines.
- Menu Planning: Work with the Centre Manager and staff to create seasonal menus that meet children's nutritional needs and consider allergies.

- Inventory Management: Keep track of supplies, order what’s needed, and ensure the kitchen is well-stocked.
- Cleanliness: Keep the kitchen tidy and clean all utensils and equipment properly.
- Communication: Work with Kaiako (Teachers) to understand children's food needs and make mealtimes enjoyable.
- Education: Teach children about healthy eating and encourage them to try different foods.
Background and Experience:
- Previous experience in cooking or food preparation, preferably in an early childhood or aged care setting.
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for young children.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and autonomously in a kitchen alone
