At Active Explorers Hokitika, relationships come first. Our centre is filled with laughter, curiosity, and connection, creating a warm and welcoming space for tamariki and their whānau.

We care for children aged 3 months to 6 years and are proud to be the only centre in Hokitika with a nursery, supporting tamariki from their earliest days through to their next learning steps. Our team works collaboratively in a positive, inclusive environment where children are encouraged to explore and educators feel supported.

As an Enviroschools centre, outdoor learning and caring for our environment are part of everyday life, reflecting our strong connection to our community and the beautiful West Coast.

Whether you’re beginning your ECE journey, studying towards a qualification, or bringing valuable hands-on experience, this could be your opportunity to grow within a supportive and welcoming team.

Our offer to you:

  • A warm, supportive team culture where everyone genuinely helps each other.
  • A well-resourced centre that encourages creativity and exploration.
  • Leaders who prioritise your wellbeing and support your professional development.
  • Competitive pay and a strong focus on work–life balance.
  • Birthday leave to celebrate you.
  • Access to the Evolve network of early childhood education professionals.
  • Sufficient non-contact hours to ensure effective program planning.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • A fun, inclusive environment where your ideas are welcomed.

What we're looking for in you:

  • A genuine passion for working with tamariki.
  • A nurturing, positive and proactive attitude.
  • A love of play-based learning and supporting children's exploration.
  • Confidence in building strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • A willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative environment.

If you're ready to grow your early learning career in beautiful Hokitika and be part of a centre where relationships truly matter, please submit your application today!
