Located in the heart of town, Active Explorers Invercargill is a modern, purpose-built centre that offers endless opportunities for tamariki to thrive. With Queens Park, and the library just steps away, spontaneous adventures are part of our daily life.

Our philosophy centres around free movement, relationship-based care, and encouraging curiosity through exploration.

Our purpose-built centre features spacious outdoor areas and age-specific rooms that support every stage of development. Rain or shine, our large, covered decks ensure children stay connected with nature year-round.

A special highlight is our Nui Explorers programme, running Wednesdays during term time for our eldest learners. This initiative invites Tamariki to explore nature in our local hapori (community), building a strong bond with Papatūānuku (the land) and enhancing their wellbeing. Through unstructured play—like bug hunting, bushcraft, hut building, and tree climbing—children build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills in a fun, natural environment.
